Dr. Patrick Huddie is an experienced investment banker with asset management, entrepreneurial and operations experience. He has advised many companies about mergers and acquisitions, including management buyouts and blank check acquisitions, as well as all types of debt and equity finance.
Patrick has experience with multiple industries, especially in Healthcare and Life Sciences (pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and diagnostics, clinical care, health care IT and healthcare logistics). He has also worked with aerospace and defence, consumer goods, financial services, and information technology companies.
He was a managing member of the Chesapeake Emerging Opportunities Club, an early-stage fund based in Columbia, Maryland with investments in biotechnology, alternative energy, medical devices and wireless technology, and was a director of Chesapeake PERL Inc. and Fiberight LLC.
Dr. Huddie previously founded and operated an electro-optical engineering services company that provided imaging and laser technology to federal government clients, as well as to biomedical research organizations and the microelectronics industry; the company successfully licensed and implemented NASA technology to create compact ultraviolet lasers for terrestrial applications.
Dr. Huddie’s academic career included biophysical and pharmacological research and teaching at the National Institutes of Health, the Marine Biological Laboratory in Massachusetts, the University of Nottingham and the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Patrick holds an honours degree in Physiology and a doctorate in Biophysics from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and is a past member of the Biophysical Society, the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers, and the Society for Neuroscience.
When not helping entrepreneurs bring life-saving medicines and technology to market, Patrick indulges in crafting poetry and woodworking, reading military history and enjoying the company of friends.
