Senior investment banker with extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance in markets around the world.
Specialties: Consumer product and industrial companies
Experience
With 30 years in investment banking, James (Jim) Whitcomb has extensive experience advising consumer product and industrial clients on mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance in markets around the world. Prior to joining Westbury Group, Jim worked at a number of investment banking firms, including The Chart Group, Shattuck Hammond Partners, and predecessor firms of JP Morgan Chase. He spent eleven years at Lehman Brothers, where he advised banking clients on strategic matters and directed client coverage of the European consumer products sector in London.
In Jim’s view, a global and experienced network is critical to the effective execution of international M&A transactions. Lower and middle market businesses account for a major share of cross-border transactions in the United States and typically attract worldwide acquirer interest. It is essential for advisors to demonstrate they can access buyers and sellers around the world and articulate the strategic rationale for a transaction in the global context. With his cross-border experience and ICFG membership, Jim can mobilize a powerful network of bankers around the world.
Education
Jim was educated in England, then graduated from Williams College in the United States with a B.A. with Honors in History . He later received an M.B.A. from The Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Life drives and passions
Jim loves sailing which he enjoys with his family on Long Island Sound and, from time-to-time, in the Caribbean. He enjoys reading history and pursues his longstanding interest in foreign affairs through a charitable organization involved in Haiti, as well as participating in foreign policy organizations based in New York City.
