HT Materials Science completes €15 million Series-A round
James Thomas James is a Corporate Finance Technology Partner at HMT who brings over 25 years advisory experience. He exclusively acts for high growth, technology-led companies advising them on raising venture capital, as well as acquisitions and disposals, and has a deep interest in M&A and fundraising for renewables projects.
Experience
James started his career at Deloitte, first qualifying as a Chartered Accountant before then specialising in Corporate Finance. James left Deloitte to take up a role as a Senior Financial Analyst in the telecoms industry.
In 2000, James joined ICON Corporate Finance, an advisory boutique specialising in the technology sector. During his 14 years at ICON, James completed almost 50 fundraisings and M&A transactions across the TMT space including software, SaaS, B2B & B2C, internet of things (IoT), telecoms, nanotech and new materials companies.
Before joining HMT, James was a Director in BDO’s National Renewables team, leading on transactions in the Energy and Cleantech sectors. At BDO, James led assignments for technology companies and project developers totalling in excess of £600 million.
Education
James graduated in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol in 1994.
Life drives and passions
James enjoys mountain biking, cooking, rugby, skiing and reading autobiographies. James is a big rugby fan and although no longer playing, he enjoys watching from the comfort of an armchair and living vicariously through the exploits of his son’s rugby team.
